Three Rivers currently provides Home Improvement Agency Services in the North East district areas of Derwentside, Easington, Darlington, Redcar & Cleveland and Durham & Chester-Le-Street. Home Improvement Agencies are not for profit organisations which assist vulnerable homeowners or private sector tenants, who are older, disabled or on low incomes to repair, maintain or adapt their homes. Their aim is to enable clients to continue to live independently in their own homes, so long as it is their wish, by assisting with their essential works. Essentially, our Care and Repair service brokers the relationship between homeowners and contractors to ensure that the work meets our clients’ requirement and that they get value for money. Each of our agency offers a slightly different mix of services, but overall, we help with the financial, technical and practical aspects of organising works. We are in constant touch with the local councils and occupational therapists to help with funding application and preparing schedules of works to fulfil clients’ needs. Examples of types of work are:

• Installation of level access showers.
• Providing ramp access for wheel chair use.
• Installation of stairlifts.
• Exterior and inter-building renovations.
