I joined Three Rivers in January 2003 as a member of the Direct Labour
Operating team (DLO). Our job involves going into empty properties to
inspect them and carry out any repairs that are necessary. As all our
staff in the team are time served joiners we do all the joinery work,
some plumbing, a small amount of plastering and tiling and any basic
electrical repairs. When all the repairs are completed, the property
is then cleaned from top to bottom and we change the locks. The keys
are then handed to the Customer Service Officers for the new tenants.
In April 2003, two of the DLO team were transferred onto reactive work
which involves going into tenants’ properties to do the general
day to day repairs while the tenants are at home. The work is virtually
all joinery work with the odd exception like changing broken tiles etc.
When working in these properties you get the chance to meet people from
all walks of life. This makes the job all the more interesting with
a great cross section of the community.
Three Rivers have a good cross section of employees. They also have
a really good policy that treats everyone fairly regardless of sex,
creed, colour, religion or status, both to the public and its employees.
I find all colleagues and managers alike very friendly, very approachable
and very supportive. The company encourages its employees to gain more
qualifications that will help the individual and the company by providing
training that will suit the individuals’ needs. The company also
encourages its employees to apply for any promotional opportunities
and give the support that is required.
It is a very friendly place to work with a good rapport between all
departments.
I would encourage anyone interested in joining a friendly company that
does not discriminate in any way at all and encourages further education
and promotional opportunities to look no further than joining Three
Rivers.
